Add keyboard shortcuts

Closed this issue · 7 comments

Hey,

I think, that the following features would make this extension even more useful:

  1. Implementing a way to stop the current countdown
  2. A configurable sound should play at the end of a countdown
  3. A shortcut to open the extensions' time input window, that will allow you to type in the desired countdown time afterwards and press enter, so that a new countdown will start.

Best wishes!

Hey!

Thanks for the input!

  1. Yeah, I thought about that, too. But then, I thought: why not let it time out or choose another tea. But I think about it once again, especially about where to put the "abort button".
  2. The original applet used to have this feature. I've to check, how hard it is using gstreamer via JavaScript and if it is possible to use both gstreamer 1.0 and 0.1 via the same code base.
  3. I'm sorry, I don't get, what you are proposing. Could you elaborate what you are trying to accomplish?

Best,
Olaf

Hey!

Thanks for your reply!

Regarding the third point: It would be nice to have a way to start a custom countdown with a keyboard shortcut, i.e. there should be a shortcut, that opens this extension with the cursor in the time field, where you can type the desired countdown time, then simply press enter and, voilà, a new countdown starts!

Best!

Ah, not I got it ;) I'll have to check if it is possible / how to implement that...

The latest git version has audible alarms. Please test ;)

Thanks for the audio alarm, it works very well!

Any progress on the keyboard shortcut for the countdown field?

Ideally, other time formats than mm:ss should be implemented as well, like:
4s
4sec
4secs
5m
5min
5mins
and their combination, f.i.: 5m30s

When typing a number without ":", then this number should be counted as minutes, so that typing only 3 should start a 3 minutes timer.

No, I'm sorry. Due to some issues, I'm not running gnome-shell at the moment on my desktop, thus I didn't work on it at the moment. But if you send patches, I'm happy to review them...
