Timer continues to run when blacklisted tab is closed

If I have a tab open to reddit, and reddit is blacklisted, the timer runs as it should.

But if I close the tab while it's open, making the browser display a non-blacklisted site, the timer will continue to run as if I were still on reddit. If I swap tabs, the timer finally stops.
