Drop-down menues & text areas (HTML)

The selected item in a drop-down menu when using HTML widgets is always "Null" or "undefined". This is both the case when trying to print it to the console or when including it in the output via the logger widget.

The same goes for text areas, whose contents are always "undefined" when assigning the name to a variable, as one would do with every other type of HTML input.
