There are a few resources for migrating from the native installation to Tutor:
- Migration guide by Sofiane Bébert in 2021: https://openedx.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/COMM/pages/3249438723/How+to+migrate+from+a+native+deployment+to+a+tutor+deployment+of+the+Open+edX+platform
- High-level instructions by Pierre Mailhot: https://discuss.openedx.org/t/upgrade-from-native-to-tutor/9252
- A Juniper migration guide: https://discuss.overhang.io/t/migrating-from-native-install-to-tutor-juniper-tutor-10-x/1533/11
The first migration guide is probably the most advanced reference we got. It was created in reaction to this BTR issue: openedx/wg-build-test-release#78
My understanding is that people have trouble figuring out that this guide is the official one. I propose the following:
- Better advertise this guide on the Open edX forum such that people who migrate their platform from native can use and improve it.
- Update this guide for Maple, the latest native release. We're going to have to explain how to migrate the plugins to the latest v1 API.
- Link to this guide from the Tutor docs.
