Should GeoSPARQL 1.0 be deprecated, now that 1.1 is published?

GeoSPARQL 1.1 is backwards-compatable with 1.0.

Do you mean deprecated using RDFS/OWL statements or by writing deprecated on the 1.0 spec or both?

Deprecate the written specification. The RDF is still in use in that the 1.1 ontology is 75% the same content as the 1.0 ontology and in same namespace.

So the guidance would be "don't read the 1.0 Spec, read the 1.1 (which is backwards-compatible)".

Discussion in the GeoSPARQL meeting concluded that we did not want to formalise deprecation of the 1.0 standard until a version of the standard that has breaking changes is released. However, as part of the publication process, OGC have indicated that the standard has been superseded. We we will leave this ticket open for a later date. I will tag it with Version 2.0.
