Can't get V2 mod to work?

Hi All: I can't seem to find the wyze v2 on my network after I follow the instructions for installation. I do get a yellow light after 'installation' but can't find the indicated mac address on my network. I use google wifi, which might be the problem. I read on here that I might need to modify the openipscan file but I don't even install that file onto the sd card according to the instructions. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
