Add params/handling to support additional custom labeling for formal objects

Oftentimes, you want the ability to label figures/tables/examples differently than what's provided by label.markup. (For example, label.markup for Preface might be set to be none, but for figures in the Preface, you want a label of P-1, P-2, etc.). Consider adding more params/handling to support that.
