Add basic unit testing

Experiment with testing systems and build a basic testing module:

• Learn some basic testing packages and frameworks, and,
• choose one (for now).

Then

• build a basic testing module sufficient to confirm the some basic properties, and
• test it for both success and (forced) failure on:
  • Travic CI,
  • Hackage.
