PostGIS password gets overwritten

When trying to add a PostGIS data store, the password is always overwritten by some UUIDish string starting with _gs_pwd. This renders the image broken for PostGIS users.

I'm surprised to read this. We've been using this image to connect to postgis databases for years; there are quite a few projects running in production with that setup with no issues. I just tried locally with two containers (oscarfonts/geoserver:latest and postgis/postgis:latest) and it works fine.
I'm afraid we would need a bit more context to know what your issue is. Could you please be a bit more specific on where that password is overwritten and when?
Sorry, I don't remember and I don't use it anymore. It was probably when using the Geoserver GUI in a web browser. Maybe it was fixed in the mean time.
