FX2 not renumerating

Hi,
I'm trying this firmware mainly as a test case for my own fx2 development. I'm having some problem achieving a renumerate for this device when using code compiled with sdcc. If I use Cypress' SDK and compile their examples with Keil's compiler, it renumerates correctly (I can play with the vendor id from the code).
I tried to test this firmware since it appears to be maintained for current sdcc versions, but it appears to have the same problem. It does not show on lsusb and on dmesg it complains about not being able to read the device descriptors.
I'm using the LCsoft eval board from ebay, btw.
Could you maybe shed some light? Thanks
