How to determine dimension variable in methods

Hi every one I am trying to use GEMs in link prediction task. I decided to start with HOPE method. But I don't know how I should determine d variable ?

It mostly depends on the number of nodes and complexity of the graph. If the graph is larger than 1000 nodes, mostly 128 or 256 dimensions have worked well for me for most data sets.
