No Connection over UMTS

Closed this issue · 7 comments

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.I added my Boinc Client with an DynDNS Adress
2.I added the Port Forwarding in my Router
3.I tryed to Connect but nothing happpend

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
nothing, the Client is still offline

What version of the product are you using?
v6.10.17.b3

What is the vendor/model of the device? What is the Android version?
SGS I9000 Android V2.3.3.

Please provide any additional information below.
In Wifi Mode everything is ok.
I see the Incomming Traffic in my firewall.
I also added the IP Adress from my Phone in the remote_hosts.cfg, when i delete
the adresse then the Boinc Client get the Message that an unallowed access is
comming.

Sorry for my Bad English, im from Germany.

If the remote_hosts.cfg can block access from mobile, then it means the
connectivity should be OK (IP-address/port/firewall). The last thing could be
password then.
In such case you could see (if your mobile connection is slow enough, as my
GPRS is) "Connecting" then "Authorization" and then it's silently back in "Not
connected" state (you will not see message about wrong password in your BOINC
client in this case). AndroBOINC is not very descriptive about connection
errors yet (sorry - it's still beta, improvements are planned).
Please make sure your password is correct in AndroBOINC. Some on-screen
keyboard can be tricky (happened to me too!) and password is hidden in dialog,
so it is not always easy to discover mistyped password. You can also try to
temporarily set empty password in your BOINC client and AndroBOINC, to see
whether it is password related or not.

Yes, this is what happend to me.
The password is ok. Is there any logging file were i or you can see whats wrong?
What can i do with the changing ipaddress of my mobile phone. i cant change the
ipaddress in th remote_host file every time i want to have access.
thanx

- The password could still be wrong inside the data, even if you typed it
correctly. It already happened to me, that on-screen keyboard modified what I
typed (repeatedly the same way, not just once, it was keyboard problem).
- Have you tried it without password (= empty password)? You need to stop whole
BOINC client, set empty password, start BOINC and then use empty password in
AndroBOINC and try to connect... (Then after test you stop BOINC again, set
original password and start BOINC again.)
- Logging is turned off in production version of AndroBOINC published on
Market, so no logs are available there (this is in line with guidelines of
Android development, no need to flood logs and slow down the phone during daily
usage). I can publish special version with debugging turned on, so steps of
connection will be in log. But I will publish it only here on project page
(Downloads section), NOT on Android Market, so you should install it manually
for debugging purposes only. And also, you should install another tool to see
the device log - e.g. "Log Collector" (search "com.xtralogic" on Market and you
will find it easily) and have a look into log by yourself or send it to me by
e-mail. (I am sorry, but it is not very simple, such debugging is advanced
procedure.) Also, I do not have much time for preparing debug version right
now, so it could take some time...
- There is description of whole setup here on project's Wiki:
http://code.google.com/p/androboinc/wiki/HowToSetup (and part of it covers
settings needed for dynamic IP-addresses of AndroBOINC). But unfortunately
right now only Linux and MacOS X descriptions are available, the Windows
description is still missing there. I know that Windows is still most
frequently used OS by home users, but I do not have Windows at home myself. I
already have corresponding screenshots from Windows XP, so hopefully part for
Windows will be added soon. I will try to add it this weekend.

Hi korre...,

funktioniert das jetzt wirklich bei dir?

Bei mir hab ich nur Zugriff über WLAN nicht über UMTS.

Als ich den BOINC als Service installiert hatte, war keine
Verbindung zum localhost mehr möglich. Also hab ich BOINC
wieder normal installiert. Kannst Du helfen?
