Quality/Bitrate of Transcode Enhancement

I like the recent changes to the transcode setting but 26Mbps as highest rate is a bit low for local network transcode. I was requesting more bitrates but thought about how about Instead of a fix numeric value, is it possible to do a % of the Original bitrate instead? Hope you consider this.
A dynamic bitrate is going to be hard to realize. I'll check.
It'd probably have to be a global setting, which results in "custom (bitratenumber)" in the bitrate dropdown right below original.
That is also an option if you can have a custom bitrate
It could be a custom global bitrate, and/or a custom global percentage.
I think it's generally not desirable, which is why I added the option "Clamp bitrates" to Video settings.
Hmm, I think the easiest to implement would be a fixed percentage. Which percentages would you like to see? I'd go for 85 and 70. The other bitrates should cover the rest.
That sounds perfect it should be perfect coverage
It's still not straight forward to implement. This will take a while.
Would it be easier just to implement what you said originally? Custom(bitrate) that's below original option.And have it customisable under video settings with rates of starting at 45 with increments of 15 up to 100 and then just rely on bitrate clamp
Hm no, basically the same complexity. I'll need to rewrite the quality index handling completely. That'll be something for 0.8.1.
