Copy function not working properly

I do a lot of copy pasting commands from my OneNote and I recently transitioned to Linux... when I copy multiple lines in OneNote and paste it into a text file for example, it adds an extra space at the end of each line, and adds a new line in between lines. Expected behavior just would paste the lines as they are without spaces and newlines.
