Pretty much the title of the issue, has anyone had the same problem?

Many portions of the screen simply do not load (remains all black) and the parts that load take a considerable time to do it.

is it similar to issue #17? (you're on macOS right?)

I'm sorry for not providing the complete data. Yes, I'm on MacOS and yes, it's the same issue as the end of the issue #17. I've done what you said there using ./run_mtgo --shell, it improved a bit the ocurrence of the black windows, but I still get them.

And if you do xrefresh in a Terminal, does it fix the black windows?

You can also give a try installing MTGO using Wine, without the Docker layer:
