Apparently the Legacy Xperia people dropped support for the feature in march 2015: https://github.com/LegacyXperia/local_manifests/wiki/Changelog#nightly-build-20150309---cm-110
It would be great to update the readme in order to reflect that.

You saved my day. I used cm-11-20160417 version, the keyboard is created and then destroyed.
