A more versatile time axis

Hi,

I'm trying to recreate the famous github contribution carpet plot but number of dashboard changes, by i can't use day names as the time axis and the month as the X axis, but it's not working for me since string types cannot be casted to time datatypes.
Do you see a way around that ?
