Install Can't Create Directory
Opened this issue · 2 comments
I'm a registered TextEdit user from years back, but for recent years I've used Linux only. I just bought a new PC and after shrinking the one partition to make room for Linux, I once again have a Windows installation.
One of the first things I wanted to do was install my old favorite editor, but the install failed. It said it couldn't create the program directory!
I hope there's a fix for this.

I found a workaround: Download the self-installer and run it as administrator.

The self-installer is actually no longer such a good idea, what worked fine back in the day doesn't work so well under the security regimes of modern Windows versions. Hence this:

Actually, it should work if you download the installer and runs it as Administrator.
(At some point I'll finish my .msi-based installer...)
