Dark mode makes everything black

Opened this issue · 2 comments

I've just installed NickelMenu on my kobo nia to get dark mode and wrote a configuration file like this:

menu_item:reader:night:nickel_setting:toggle:dark_mode

When clicking on the "night" menu item, the background correctly turns black, but the text doesn't turn white: the whole book is now black, making it impossible to read. I rebooted the device but that didn't fix anything.

  • nickel menu: 0.5.4
  • firmware: 4.31.19086
  • ereader: kobo nia n306 fcc/ic1gsar 1,6

I think this is likely due to the book's styling. Is this a KEPUB or EPUB, and does the CSS explicitly set the font colour anywhere?

Is this a KEPUB or EPUB?

This is an EPUB. I didn't know about KEPUB and found your convertor tool kepubify. Would you recommend me to plug that into Calibre?

does the CSS explicitly set the font colour?

I haven't checked that yet but I've just tried other ebooks and they display just fine. You are most probably right. Thank you very much! Does kepubify remove font colour automatically?
