Akismet spam checking not working

Tried to add comments that should have been flagged as spam, but didn't get flagged. Akismet integration not working? If so, how to debug?

Did you set your site's moderation method to Akismet? Moderation is disabled by default.

It was set to Akismet. But looks like it is more an issue with the way Akismet detects spam rather than with juvia. After manually flagging spammy comments as spam, Akismet learnt from it and correctly marked similar spam.
