"Creeping" input level slowly unmutes audio input

Opened this issue · 4 comments

  • System: Macbook Pro w/ MacOS HighSierra, MuteMe v1.0, Cisco WebEx Meetings v. 33.3.6.2
  • Precondition: Using Cisco WebEx and connect to a phone conference or Personal Room. Unmute is installed and shortcut is defined, using a JABRA Evolve 65 headset (I am not entirely sure if reproducible with other applications recording/using Audio)
  • Steps to reproduce:
  1. Open the OSX Sound Preferences -> Input
  2. Mute Audio input via MuteMe (button or shortcut)
  3. The Audio input level jumps from mute to a very low input level and sometimes starts creeping to a higher input volume

creeping audio input

@thpssngr
Most likely it is a behavior of Cisco WebEx. In this page user explain than "WebEx application is improperly controlling my audio settings." Similar question about volume auto adjustment is here
Unfortunately, MuteMe can't properly work with applications which has volume auto adjustment. Also, we will try to think about a solution of similar problems

Hello, I rewrote how MuteMe mutes devices in this PR #26. It seems like in next release MuteMe should work properly if some application changes volume.

UPD: Here is release candidate https://github.com/pixel-point/mute-me/releases/tag/v2.0.0-rc1

We are happy to announce that we released the new version of the app which currently we distribute as a separate application https://mutify.app/

You can try it for free with 7-days trial and get 50% discount with promo code: MUTEME

However, the existing opensource version will stay forever free.
