Please provide with the build instructions for Ubuntu

Hi,
I don't remember how to build a debian package, I found this tool but I'm not sure this is the right command because it fails :
~/git/pixelb/fslint $ dpkg-buildpackage

Right, I'm not surprised the debian support in the git repo has gotten stale.
Also given the dependence on gtk2, I think a snap is the best way to install on modern systems.
