Fails when $DISPLAY is set, but Emacs was compiled without X support

This is really a bug in Emacs. I've only tested it on Emacs 23.2 so far, but I'll report it once I confirm that it exists in the trunk as well.

Fixes a bug with using relative paths w/ emacsclient.

closed by c350c74d0095b118cf2157ecbf3d6be898600471 by checking standard error for the relevant error message. The issue has also been reported in Emacs: http://debbugs.gnu.org/cgi/bugreport.cgi?bug=8314
