Do you keep the source for this project in any kind of source control? I
was hoping to contribute some work on it, but I didn't want to conflict
with any dev work you've done already.

No, I don't use any source control software.
Please use the Google Group (http://groups.google.com/group/rtgui) to discuss
development etc.
