Port firmware to free toolchain?

It looks like the current firmware require the non-free Code Warrior to compile. How about porting it to the free Small Device C Compiler?

The firmware can be built with the free version of Codewarrior.
There is also the firmware for the various targets - some of which are not supported by SDCC.
So not really sensible to put any energy into this.
