Well — I use 2.3.1 in my project and thought by including libPusher Cocoapods might download another version. Actually it's pretty happy to use 2.3.1.

Sorry. This is a non-issue. I probably just saw the optimistic version operator ~> and jumped to the conclusion that it wouldn't cover my version!
