Alternatively you could consider crafting text that covers what you think should be added to make our home page more clear. This will require some familiarity with writing markdown
A section explaining why the project exists and what it hopes to achieve would be helpful for people coming across it for the first time.
this is a great issue that still has not been addressed - this is a sprintable item where you could explore our home page - https://www.pyopensci.org/ and provide feedback on text that would better explain our mission and goals. this might include added some sections to the landing page with this information
