The current CRAN release (1.2.2, released on 2021-09-11) should contain this [merged] PR, right?

However, I find that using 1.2.2 I do get the problem described by @dfalbel, whereas with the dev version, I don't get it ...

Yeah that release was accidently submitted without #162.
It will be in the next pkgdown release for sure.
I can probably do one this week.
This should be fixed by the 1.2.3 release, which is now on CRAN.
