GUI: Default icons are missing on GNOME (adwaita-icon-theme)

The default icon theme on GNome DE is not complete (e.g., numixproject/numix-icon-theme#577),
so the SCRAM GUI is missing most of its freedesktop icons (blank squares).
Hacking around with gsettings (change the default theme to humanity)
does not seem to have any effect on Ubuntu 18.04.
