Pokemon Color ROM error

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Open Emulator
2. Select Pokemon Gold or Silver or Crystal
3. Go down stairs. (If this is successful, continue out the door of your house. 
the chance that these are both successful, then you are really lucky, but it 
won't load going in or out of any of the other houses.)

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
-The next room, instead, i am presented with a blank screen of a sort of creme 
color)

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
JGBE V752 (most recent) on a mac

Please provide any additional information below.
I can't figure out how to avoid the error, and, all i can find, is a quick save 
right outside the door to the next room, and you have to try again and again 
and again until it finally decides to work, and it's only a quick fix until the 
next room, and it working the first time is about a 1 in 20 chance, if it's 
even that good.
