Low audio volume

Feature request: Some kind of volume normalisation audio filter.
--
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Place call to Sipdroid on a HTC Magic
What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
The audio to Sipdroid is too quiet. Outbound audio is OK. This is being
trailed on a private sip network with 10 phones, a mixture of Linksys SPA
versions, Polycom, Grandstream, and various softphones. The other devices
are OK. The phone volume has been set with the volume buttons to max. The
caller can be heard, but they are very quiet.
What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Sipdroid 1.4 on Android 1.5 (Stock '3' firmware on a HTC Magic Australia).
Which SIP server are you using? What happens with PBXes?
Private install, Opensips 1.6.1 and RTP Proxy 1.2. Have not tested with
PBXes, wish to use sipdroid in our existing network.
Which type of network are you using?
WLAN, WPA2, via Billion ADSL Modem, on ADSL 2, to Server hosted at a
mainstream internet peering location, connected on 100mbit ethernet.
Please provide any additional information below.
This is not so much a bug as a feature request. Technically the software is
working fine, but quiet audio happens with some phones and a normalisation
audio filter would make data connections to the mobile via SIP usable for
portable connectivity around the office. At the moment, the volume is too
quiet to use the solution.
Thanks!

Update: I have tested some more phones and the problem has come good. I then
re-tested a call from the original phone and it is also good. So I no longer
think
normalisation is needed. It is more likely there is a problem with the sipdroid
volume control. I'll post back If I can find a way to reliably reproduce it.
