Are there any plans to release a new version of this with the PyJWT dependency not requiring 1.7? Perhaps 2.0?

Unfortunately, twilio-python doesn't yet support PyJWT 2.x. See here: twilio/twilio-python#560.

@jheld Twilio finally dropped support for older versions of python and now you can upgrade to PyJWT 2.0.
