Provide a notebook for image processing

Opened this issue · 4 comments

One of my reasons for my using RSGISLib in the past was processing satellite imagery to analysis ready data. The previous docs included a large tutorial on doing this which I found extremely helpful, not only with learning how to use RSGISLib but also to understand the steps involved in processing satellite imagery. I think users would find a similar tutorial in notebook form very useful.

Thank you for the feedback. Are you referring to the old tutorial which made use of the JAXA PALSAR data and showed the pre-processing of that data?

We are still putting together these notebooks so it is good to know what is useful for people.

I realise after checking it was actually an ARCSI tutorial you made that used RSGISLib as part of it, titled "Introduction to ARCSI for generating ARD". I'm not sure of how much of that tutorial can be completed in the latest version of RSGISLib, or maybe there is already an updated version of that tutorial available (I couldn't find it after a quick search).

Ah, OK. Yes, I will be updating that documentation but I first need to update ARCSI to work with RSGISLib v5. That will also include support for the latest versions of Sentinel-2 and Landsat Collection-2 and Landsat 9. It'll hopefully be next month sometime that I get a new version of ARCSI released.

Okay, thanks for the update. I do think a notebook as part of this repo covering some of the image processing methods within RSGISLib would be worthwhile, even if it isn't at the same level of detail as the ARCSI tutorial. If you think that's redundant given the forthcoming ARCSI tutorial then this issue can be closed.
