If I remember correctly, the orange LED when charging can be disabled in the settings, in the notification section.

sadly that's not true, the notification area is a bit limited in that respect, the only notifications you can disable the light for that don't relate directly to system apps are the download status for an app, and the LiveArea Screen Refresh Status. I've even tried disabling Notification Alerts altogether and the light still turns on.
