run `smarteole_example.py` in CI

I run smarteole_example.py as a manual integration test. It would be nice if it ran automatically, maybe as part of the existing lint-and-test action. However it's slow so #20 would be worth looking into first or somehow running it more selectively than the unit tests. Also caching the input data from Zenodo would be important.
