cleanup code remains from REST API

The package now uses the graphql API and the REST API is shut down.
I believe there are pieces of code that are remainders of the REST API that we can now delete, but I am uncertain of which pieces.
I'll start work on testing which I think should/could be deleted, and I'll ask you @benubah for a review to just double check.
