main directory in tarballs contains git hash

Closed this issue · 1 comments

I'm currently trying to package CosmoloPy for Gentoo linux. I would be very grateful if main directory was some deriverate of pkg's NAME and VERSION rather than:
roban-NAME-HASH
Thanks in advance,

Thanks for your interest in packaging CosmoloPy.

Yeah, this is github's naming scheme for auto-generated tarballs based on the git tags. I think it's a good system, since this is the bleeding-edge development version.

If you want a clean directory name, try the source tarball from PyPI, which I will try to keep fairly-well updated.

This is better for making packages anyway, since it is nominally the "release" version, rather than the "development" version, though there's not much of a difference at the moment.

Let me know if that's not clean.
