What version of node to use

What version of node should be installed to get all this working?

Unfortunately it is probably something pretty ancient... It was before the numbering system got a little funky. Maybe 3.x?

I got it running with node v8.0.0, using nvm. I'm getting the same disconnect issue as issue 8
