Remove all non-functional or outdated Rock-ons

Closed this issue · 5 comments

We have a number of Rock-ons that are either/both unmaintained upstream or/and broken locally.

It is proposed that we simply delete any non functioning Rock-on from our public list and publish the changes. There after we do the same within say 1 month of no willing developer assistance stepping up. Our current Rock-on count is around 80: a non trivial list to maintain given only 1 minute on each equates to around 1 hour 20 minutes. 1 minute on each, in turn, equates to nearly nothing! Hence reliance on public reports which I propose we answer with deletes if insufficient developer time is not forthcoming - or no activity is observered regarding further/pending interest.

Linking to the following open issues thought to be related:

This is in the context of our current 20 open pull requests in this repository having around 20 request to add Rock-ons.

[edit] Copied from comment below.

  • home-assistant.json Rock-on definition file without associated root.json entry.
  • "Watchtower offical" which should read: "Watchtower official"

Thanks to @Hooverdan96 for the initial authoring of all but one of the above referenced issues; and to @Termitebug for the remaining authorship in the above. We might as well clean house on all of these issues, in one go (via delete), to return us to a more manageable state for the Rock-ons repo as a whole: the essence of this issues proposal.

Firefighting in this case is frustrating all around hence a quick delete of all 'standing' failures that have not recently received any attention.

I am currently working on this issue to hopefully clear the way for some newer Rock-ons. Some of which replace the ones removed in this issue.

We also have the following orphaned entry:

  • home-assistant.json Rock-on definition file without associated root.json entry.

And a display Typo that may have re-scan ramifications:

  • "Watchtower offical" which should read: "Watchtower official"
