Hardware configuration consists in setting:

  • the type of devices (eg Luigs, Sutter etc)
  • the assignment of groups of axes to manipulators or stage (eg channel 0 is X-axis of manipulator 1)

We can start with a little application to set this and write to the configuration file. The program looks for devices, lists them, or alternatively the user manually selects them (and their COM port). Assignment can then be done in several ways:

  • Display coordinates of all axes and ask user to assign.
  • Make a large movement of an axis and ask the user to assign; repeat for all axes. Advantage: this does not require a controller.
