Docker is sunsetting Free Team organizations

As also mentioned at docker/hub-feedback#2314, Docker is sunsetting Free Team organizations at April 13th, 2023. The initial notification was sent by Docker via e-mail yesterday.
Docker expects users switching to their paid Docker plans, alternatively there is a "specific Docker-Sponsored Open Source (DSOS) program for open-source projects" for which this project might or might not be eligible.
In difference to some other projects, all container images are pushed since ever to Docker Hub and Quay.io. It could be worth considering GHCR additionally.
If, for some reason, the Docker-Sponsored Open-Source Program isn't working out, we are happy to help you out. We operate a Harbor-based container registry as a service that has many benefits over most of the other registries out there.
There are also features regarding containerized image distribution, that might be valuable too as well.
I've applied to DSOS, but as mentioned at docker/hub-feedback#2314 (comment) there has been no confirmation mail so far (while I do not have any e-mail issues in general).
Meanwhile there has been a response:
Thank you for applying to the Docker-Sponsored Open Source program! We appreciate the time you took to fill out the application, and it’s now being reviewed.
You’ll receive an update within 30 days. […]
Congratulations! Your project has been approved for the Docker-Sponsored Open Source program. A Docker Team subscription will be allocated to the project organization Docker ID specified in your application within the next 3 weeks. […]

Membership in the Docker-Sponsored Open Source (DSOS) program is valid for one year. You will receive a reminder email from us when it is time to renew your membership.
