please indicate that mpi is needed

$ pip install mpi4py
solved the issue for me. would be good to add into README

I don't have mpi4py installed, and yet the printers work. Why do you think it is needed?

I do not have mpi installed either. And printers do work. I guess it falls into «can't reproduce» category.
