For the dataset http://bibsoup.net/pitman/peter_olver_s_references
the year facet dropdown shows first year 1924
But there are may earlier years in the dataset e.g.

http://bibsoup.net/pitman/peter_olver_s_references?q=1889 returns 5 records with year 1889

http://bibsoup.net/pitman/peter_olver_s_references?q=1912 returns 2 with year 1912

This is because the amount of years is greater than the default amount displayed for that field. It is editable in the display settings for that collection, although the functionality for doing the editing is not great. That is something that is already being improved in the current work to improve the frontend, so am pulling this ticket into the frontend edit milestone.

fixed in new version, soon available - size of columns can be more easily adjusted
