No effect of 'M-x mode-icons--convert-all-font-icons-to-xpm' in Spacemacs

Hi!
I wanted to add octicons as options since version 0.3.0 of the package allows it.
I installed the TrueType font, and wanted to convert the font glyphs to xpm.
As a Spacemacs user, I tried to M-x mode-icons--convert-all-font-icons-to-xpm as instructed on the package's README, but there's no effect.
I manually opened a mode-icons--start-gimp-inferior buffer to see any activity, but all I see is a load of (gimp:7833): GEGL-gegl-operation.c-WARNING **: Cannot change name of operation class 0x56146C6511B0 from "gimp:point-layer-mode" to "gimp:color-erase-mode" messages.
In your experience, is there something else to be added to the dotfile?
