Linux package friendly compiling/Manual compilation

I'm trying to write an Arch PKGBUILD for onionscan and all deps. There seems to be nothing compatible for download and compile locally. I am trying to do this so I can write system packages for distribution with arch.
I can't find any instructions for this. generally something equiv to ./config;make;make install
How does I manually compile?
