Line breaks and tabs are not escaped properly

\cxds\n\cxds gets translated as {^}\\n{^} rather than {^}\n{^}, which results in writing a literal "\n".
May need to implement \cxplvrnl and \cxplvrtab in order to properly support whitespace characters.
