newbie questions

hi there,
I need an offline player which would play mp3 audio files out of a local server.
I would like users to be able to choose what they listen to from lets say drop down menus in which they would choose the year, or the month or the type of the mp3, and by their choices the player would move them to the right file.

is this the kind of code i need? if not can anyone tell me what to google for?
