Fixes require Backporting to rel/6.2 (at least)

Some fixes were merged into master when they should have at least been merged into rel/6.2
I found the following PRs in master but not in rel/6.2, when I'm guessing they should be:

• #46

• #48

If I'm wrong, please correct me, but I feel like most of these should be useful for our soon-to-come release.

Closing, as we re-created the rel/6.2 branches on top of master. (Thanks to @rachedbenmustapha for the simpler suggestion given the current state of the project)
