Fails to work when using critical css technique

Respond seems to fail when using the critical css technique from addyosmani. All media queries are are in the critical css in the head of the document inside style tags. Is this normal behaviour for respond not to work this way?

Cancel that. The script nearer the top of the document I'm using to load my webfonts seems to be what was causing the issue. Respond now firing when that's removed. Thanks
