I tried doing this with my own script but the only thing I found is that the deletion of Snaps happens immediately after viewing instead of minutes after viewing or closing the app. Stories also do not seem to be downloaded/cached as a whole but rather downloads just before its being opened. Sure, it makes the attack harder but not that much harder.

If you open the app and allow downloading of snaps and then run the script, this would still work (my script does, which is not very different from yours).
